Bengal Classical Music Festival

For Bengal Classical Music Festival 2016, I explored music as a unifying force. I visualized this through flowing waves that move across musicians, instruments, and listeners, connecting them within a shared experience.

I developed the identity across campaigns, publications, custom Bangla typography, digital communication, and the festival environment. The project received a Silver A’ Design Award in Communication Design.

Role : Brand & Communication Designer
Focus : Event Identity, Graphic System, Typography

I used a stark contrast between greyscale photography and vibrant colours to represent the energy and enlightenment music brings into people’s lives. Custom Bangla typography extended the same fluid language across the identity.

I visualized Raaga, the foundation of Indian classical music, as a wave moving around the contours of the festival’s mnemonic sculpture. Five colours represent five Raagas associated with different times of day: dawn, morning, noon, evening, and dusk.

Building on the 2016 identity, I developed the 2017 festival around the idea of resonance. Inspired by Ekavali, or a connecting string, the system reflects how music travels beyond the instrument, echoes through space, and continues within the listener.
