Bengal Classical Music Festival
The identity for Bengal Classical Music Fest 2016 explores the idea of music as a unifying force, visualized through flowing graphic waves that move across musicians, instruments, and listeners—connecting them within a shared experience.
The project was recognized with a Silver A’ Design Award in Communication.
Role — Visual & Communication Designer
Focus — Event Identity, Graphic System, Typography
A stark contrast between greyscale imagery and vibrant, high-impact colors highlights this transition, symbolizing how music brings energy and enlightenment into our lives.
The system is further extended through custom Bangla typography, shaped by the same fluid visual language.
Raaga, the core musical element of Indian classical music, is visualized as a flowing wave that moves around the contours of the Bengal Classical Music Fest mnemonic sculpture symbolizing the musician.
This creates an abstract musical fabric, expressed through colors derived from five distinct Raagas, each corresponding to a different time of day—dawn, morning, noon, evening, and dusk.
Taking the 2016 identity as its foundation, the 2017 rendition deepens the idea into one of resonance.
Drawing from Ekavali, the notion of a connecting string, the design reflects how music extends beyond the instrument—echoing within the listener and creating a shared, awakened experience.
